Radio help....
I just got my car back from the shop. Had to enter radio code because battery was diconnected but stupidly didn't have it in front of me when i punched it in. flipped the last two numbers of the code. Now it just keeps displaying "please wait" What can i do to get the radio back to the code entry screen????

You can wait about 15 minutes with the key on for the radio to reset to where you can try the code again. Actually you must have entered the code wrong 3 times to get to the please wait display. Are you sure you have the correct code? Also, are you in the U.S.? U.S. spec cars that have the radios setup properly don't require codes.

When you say you got the code from the dealer with the VIN number that means they looked up the code for the radio that was ORIGINALLY installed in your car at the factory. It just means you will have to remove the radio and get the serial number off of the back and get the code from that. At some point in the past the radio has been replaced.

Same thing happened to my son's Audi. Bought the car from a private party and he had the code written in the manual. When some work was done and the battery disconnected the radio was isn safe mode. After three tries it was locked and to get another three chance you had to leave the key on in the accessory position for an hour. After having the dealer telling me we had to bring it in and spend $55, we did that. First then would he look up the code and it was discovered the code listed was different than what we had. Because the radio was locked at that point and I did not want to wait another hour I took the code and they didn't charge me anything. Big pain in the ****, but it turned out well. Lesson learned! When looking at a used car check that you have the CORRECT radio code before you buy. So many stereo systems in today's cars have some form of that and as Ringo and my son so painfully experienced something so "small" can cause so much frustration. Good luck, Ringo! Hope you can get the correct code soon and easily!

Finally got everything working this past tuesday. Had to take it to the Moore Jaguar in St. Louis, MO. They were good about it. It took them several hours to fix the issue. They had to do some research and found that the car has had four different stereos put in it. So the wait was on to find the correct code. To anybody in the area the service department is good to deal with at Moore Jaguar. They are pricey at $126.00 an hour but very reasonable people.

Several HOURS??!!! Geez, I would think they pop the radio out, get the serial number, pop it back in and then enter the code. What took so long? Is the radio that hard to remove? And if they took several hours you mean it cost you almost $400 to get the radio working again? Man, that's crazy. Plus, I hope after all that they set it up properly like RT said so you don't have to go through all that again.
4 radios? I wonder what that was all about? Does Alpine also make the transfer cases in the X-Types? That might explain it......man, 4 radios..........

Hi everyone. New to this forum, new to Jaguar. Here's the problem, prior owner replaced battery, now the radio says "code" in the display. Checked under hood and trunk lid, even called the dealer. She said when she input the VIN nothing came up, nor with the radio serial number. Any suggestions?
Thanks for any help (it's a 91 XJS) Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.

What if the code doesn't work?
At first i was blaming my 2 yo granddaughter, then i realized i had just replaced the original 11 yo battery. Interstate rules!
I have the original Jaguar radio and the original code cards. After 3 tries with the indicated code, I'm waiting for another hour according to the radio code manual.
I'm pretty sure that the radio is the original that should match the code card. It says "Jaguar" on it and looks just like the radio pictured in the radio code manual.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Online code generator
Go here:
CAR RADIO CODES - Online Service: Home
Enter all the model info + serial number from radio - pay with Paypal.
$17 and instantly got the radio code. I'd pay $17 to NOT CALL the local Jag shop.
Cheers!

I see you have a 2001 XK8. This is the X-Type forum. The buttons are different for those two models, so probably the procedure would be different. Post your question in the XK forum and I would bet someone would be able to help you there. Or search in that forum for the answer as I would I would guess that question has been asked and answered at some point.
Good luck and welcome to the forums!
