rear end squeak

rear end squeak
the jag has a rear end squeak when it dips or goes over bumps. she brought the car down the other day and i checked it out, when i push down you can really hear it squeaking. initial thought was the sway bar bushings are dry, i sprayed some penetrating oil on them to try and lube them up a little but it didnt work... im going to pull them off and grease them properly and see if that does the trick.
but has anyone else had this issue and it was something different? shes saying its got a little shake on the highway, but its still on the winter tires on.
btw - 20s go on tomorrow with some R1 Concepts drilled and slotted rotors!!

I have this issue. Sounds like a squeaky bed going over bumps, when I push down on the suspension, and even when people get in or out of the car. I haven't taken it in to have it looked at specifically, but last time I brought it to the dealer a month ago the only thing they noted back there were that the control arms and control arm bushings needed replacing. I didn't think to ask if that could be the cause of said squeaking.

Actually you will want to lubricate the e-brake cable on both sides of the car. You will see where they pass through a hole in the rear suspension members. You will want to spray lubricant on the rubber shrouded cable at the point of contact with the suspension.

As I said in my earlier post, the cables pass through the rear suspension members. They rub when the suspension moves.

Having my X for almost 4 years I have dealt with all these issues. Definitely nothing to do with the e brake. If you get down under your car and glance at the rear suspension you will notice lower arms on each side that are look similar to dog bones. Now what happens over time is the bushings in these arms wear out and cause that squeaking noise that will make you nuts going over speed bumps etc... The bushings can't be replaced as they are not available separately so you will need to replace the arms. My suggestion is to replace both at once and get it over with. I don't remember the cost but I believe they are a hundred something each.
