Rear light bulb replacement.

Rear light bulb replacement.
I have a brake light bulb out and need to replace it. I usually am pretty good about these things, but am confused at the moment. I peeled back the boot liner to expose the rear lights and even looked at the owner's manual. Do I need to remove the tail light assembly or access the cover from inside the boot. The owners manual indicates that all I need to do is slide a cover sideways and access the bulb holder. ?? Is there a video or detailed instructions on how to do this? I feel so stupid at the moment.

When I did mine, I recall having to pull the whole assembly out. Not difficult at all. Just undo those bolts and then look for the tabs inside the assembly.
Getting the liner back in was the most difficult part.
Update: Elizabeth shows you how!

Further Update: DONT DO IT THIS WAY. READ ON FOR ASTROMORGS EXPLANATION.

Elizabeth makes an easy job unnecessarily complicated! There is no need to remove the whole light unit by undoing those three nuts. The lampholder base that she shows being unclipped can easily be unclipped with the light unit still in place. that way you don't compromise the sealing arrangements either.

Thank you Astromorg! I have learned a great deal from you and your posts over the past year or so. Particularly in the area of the transfer box.
After replacing some of the bearings, my transfer box has given me zero issues during the past year
I hope to be able to give back to the community what I can.
I suspect that I will be able to help people with transmission issues eventually. I have learned a lot from VW, Mazda and Rover forums that I will compile for X-Type owners.
I changed my reverse and high piston and some solenoids, but may have missed a solenoid I should have changed out. It works much better, but I still have a slow shift and occasional coasting downshift roughness...
Anyway, thank you for adding your knowledge to the community.

Now all I have to do is find one locally. Almost everywhere tries to sub an 1156.
Looking at the wiring plug, I don't think so. The P21W/7506 are 21 watts; the 1156 is 27 to 30 depending on the brand/ Doesn't sound like much, but that is between a half and eight-tenths more amps, and that connector looks like it is screaming for mercy already.
Guess I'll get up early and hit one of the jobbers before work.
Cop was nice enough to tell me I had a brake light out, never told me which one!
