Remote stops working
This is happened to me twice so far. When I turn my ignition off and open my door I hear a "chime" now this chime does not come on whenever I opened my door in the past and when it does come on, I shut my door and try to lock it with the remote and the remote does not work. So I have to lock it with my key but then when I return to my car I open it up with they key, do my driving and when I get out again to lock the vehicle the remote starts working again. I am thinking I have some kind of feature which I am not familiar with. Has anyone elseever experienced this?
Its an 02 x 2.5 manual tranny and it has automatic headlights and the knob is always on the off position. If this helps

Go to Radio Shack and ask for Spray Electronic contact cleaner with lubricant..It should come with a little spray tube that fits into the spray button...

RE: Remote stops working
do you guys know what WD 40 actually is? nothing more than kerosene.
It can fix a squeak temporarily, and have some effect on moving parts when it is still liquid.. but it evaporates.. and nothing is left.
It has Practically zero lubricating properties.. If it were up to me it should be banned. there are so many better products out there. It is all advertising, nothing more. No different than every other scam out there.
I gotta say that it always amazes me when there is a Jag owner who is so useless with such a simple thing.
How do these people get past childhood? It is impossible that they never had anything in their house that needed a drop of oil once in a while?
were they all raised by wolves? Are they so rich that they just paid for everything that ever needed fixing?
I just dont see how it happens.
I dont mean to necessarily offend the guy.. but man, what does he do when a light bulb burns out? does this guy check his own oil level? I have to give some credit for having the money to buy the jag.. and the money to lose in the depreciation nightmare.. but not understanding that the key hole senses the presence of a key and not having the foggiest about how to deal with it.... makes me wonder..
Ahhhhhh just drove 2 hours on a snowy highway and 90% of the people have no clue about it. it is amazing there are not more accidents.

RE: Remote stops working
bojangles I honestly had no clue my issue was due to the ignition sensing that the key was still present in the ignition. I assumed I had a bigger issue such as the car thinking my headlights were still on. Also I can honestly say I have never used wd-40 for anything else other than loosening a rusted bolt and I have never had to oil or lube anything in my life other than a woman... well thats not entirely true. Its not like I am some rich snob that pays for everything. I am quite handy around the house. I can do repairs and build stuff as well as change light bulbs. When it comes to cars I leave it to a professional as I believe if you dont knwo what you are doing then dont tamper with things because only bad things can happen. Like the above example if I didnt ask if I could use wd-40 then I may have messed somethign up. i guess its easier said... If you dont know what you are doing then ask for help or take it to a professional.
