Hi

I am writing on behalf of a friend of mine. She has a 2004 Jag X-type, 3 liter sedan. Her dog not only chewed on the wooden steering wheel but somehow also on the column as well and now everything needs to be replaced. She lives in Florida.

Is there any online parts site that would sell both the wheel and the column to her? Of course she can go to a regular garage and have everything ordered new, but I was wondering if there was either an after market brand or second hand possibilities.

harold, first off, welcome to the forums. I think you will find lots of help here and lots of friendly folks. Tell your friend to get on here and join in. She can learn a lot about her car and how to take care of things herself.

As for the steering column, look up a site called Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market. This is a listing of wrecking yards across the US and through that site, you can find a yard that will be able to sell you what you are after and have it shipped to either your place or to a local yard.

As for something aftermarket, no such luck. Upgrade items for this car are few and far between. So, you have but a few options. So, your choice is whether you want to go with the factory color like she has or to go with one of the other factory colors. Beyond that, not much else to figure out.
