For a clutch on these cars you should be paying around $900-$1500 at a reputable shop. If they charge you less or lower, ask them how they plan on removing the clutch and if they have ever done a clutch on an xytpe before otherwise you could risk your transmission output seal if they remove the transfer case the wrong way.

Thanks Disguay; I've had a quote from Sheffield Prestige Ltd, an independent Jaguar Specialist in Sheffield for £900.
More importantly, I'd taken the car down already convinced that I needed a new flywheel as I could feel what I thought was a slight pulsing through the clutch. Lee, one of the proprietors of Prestige took the car for a test drive and suggested that the flywheel and clutch were perfectly serviceable and did not need replacing!
How many garages in this day and age particularly with the economy being as low as it is, would have give up the chance of securing a £900 job? I was very impressed to say the least.....
They gave me a free check up on the ramp and pointed out to me that I had a slight leak from the power steering pump, the anti roll bar bushes needed replacing and the trailing arm bush on the near side rear needed replacing. They also changed a headlight bulb and sorted out the front passenger side electric window (wasn't closing fully) free of charge!
I had an oil (50/30), filter and pollen filter change (£120), aircon test (£70; turns out the compressor is knackered ) and brake fluid change (£45).
Quote for the training arm bush £90, anti roll bar bush replacements (both sides) £60, replacement compressor £345 (if fitted at same time as clutch & flywheel as and when either of them fail).
Overall I was really impressed with the level of service and cost transparency; all ex Main dealer master technicians.
