I've ordered a UK version of the ornament for my XJ40. It does not have a spring loaded break away feature being one solid unit... as in the UK they don't have to comply with the same regulations. This version of cat bolts directly to the hood, and would equire considerable effort to remove, something would be vandals are not able to afford. I think that the effect the US version of Cat designed tobreak away in the event of striking a pedestrian is secondary to the overal effect of the car hitting someone in the first place. By the time the victim reaches the cat, he's got other concerns...

Bygone era?? Gads a Jag without a cat is...well, Naked!!!
I do admit I prefer the current smaller version which happlily is what was originally fitted to my XJ40 as an add on by a previous owner. Better sense of scale than most previous ones, and the sculpting is more angular giving it a meaner look. Call me traditional, but I love the Cat! Besides it give me something to follow around on long drives, although no matter how fast Igo, I can't seem to catch that Damn Cat!

5" leaper is good for XJ40 .7 " is really too big and heavy lol .Also, don't forhet the mounting holes to the leapers are different than each other . So,let's say you get your 5" and think hence the biggger the better , if you alreay put it on the hood that wouldn't a good route to go as you would have to drill extra holes for bigger one

My neighbor works at a factory that has a chroming facility and a gold plating facility as well. He said there is a BIG *** TANK of melted gold in there and that he'd have to get permission, but he's pretty sure he can get it done. Still waiting for the final word, so I can get it done. If not, it'll just be re chrommed!
