Rim question please help!
Hello I have an 02 X-Type 3.0. I know less about the mechanical aspect of cars than most women. I found some rims this guy is selling for $250. I am wondering if they will fit. This is all the info I wrote down when I met him earlier to look at them. They are ICW Racing rims. Offset is 5 by 100. My stock rims and these rims are both 18X7.5. My question is will they fit, because if they do I'm going to buy some tires today and the rims next Friday. I have attached a picture of the rims. Thanks!

jwatts, no, you can not use those rims. Your Jag uses a 5x108 (not a 5x100) bolt pattern. It may be possible that you can get the rims and then take them to a machine shop and they can redrill the holes for you, but I think you are going to find that most shops are going to be hessitant to do something like that.

Mike, the offset for the factory 17x7.5" rims is +40mm. But, if you change the rim width, then the offset is going to need to change as the offset is a function of rim width. So, as you go with a narrower rim, you will need more positive offset, as you go wider, you will need less positive offset. As a rule of thumb, for every half inch you change the rim width, the offset needs to change by 7mm. This is needed to be done to maintain the proper geometry between the center of the rim (side to side) and the center of the wheel bearings.
if you need more info on this, let me know.
