Default Running problem

Hi guys I am hoping someone might be able to help me with a problem with my car I have a 2008 2.2 x type and my problem is when at slow speeds it seems as if every minutes it feels like it is being pulled back a touch then stutters then clears for another minute or so and it gives a bit of smoke when you accelerate then clears and the car runs fine I am also only getting 26 miles to the gallon it shows warning lights and no fault code I have replaced the turbo actuator with a reconditioned unit cleaned the maf sensor replaced the cam sensor,map sensor fuel filter air filter and a new egr valve and have had no luck rectifying this fault and I am at a loss on what to do now I love this car but this is driving me mad any help would be appreciated thanks.

Is it auto or manual ?
Reason I ask is the auto has a dpf.

What is the fuel pressure at the fuel rail schraeder valve?

NBCat, keep in mind that this is a diesel engine. So, measuring the fuel rail pressure requires a special gauge as his fuel line pressure is a few thousand pounds.

Hi the code reader I have is only a basic one it doesn’t give me those readings do you think that is what the problem might be thanks

That symptom would normally be sticking egr valve or air being drawn in on the fuel line.
As the fuel injection pump has a built in lift pump, and the highest fuel line points is around the filter that also has o ring fittings, I would suspect that area.

Also if your new egr valve is non genuine one, don't rule out that this may be faulty.
