Drill new holes. You're not trying to put the fronts on the back are you?

Are they definately the correct mudguards for an X-type (with buying from ebay wonder if someone else perhaps is struggling to fit their new mudguards to their car as well if they were mixed up unless they were sealed with the instructions relating to the X Type in the pack perhaps!)?
They should go on no problem if correct I would have thought.

Sounds like the manufacturing tolerances are not quite up to par.....are these OEM or aftermarket?

that's odd then. They should fit all model years except as previously stated the wagon body styles.

So, looks like your choices are:

1) drill new holes as needed and bolt them up. Are there bolts or screws in the existing holes that you state are in the way? If so, remove them and run them through the mud flaps as well. Ain't nuthin hard about drilling through a mudflap.

2) F it and go without mudflaps and pawn them off on somebody else.

Okay, so option A is more practical too me right now.
Problem with option 2, is theres a bout 15 jags in town, i know only one owner, and i've seen them over a month ago. 7 are x types, myself included, 3 are the old v12 xjs, 2 are the new xj's, and one is a xkr

By mudguards... do you mean the plastic/rubber mud flaps that fit at back of each wheel arch?

If the holes don't match up I wouldn't go drilling any new ones in anything but the rubber mud flaps themselves. Is it possible you've got the front and rear mudlaps mixed up somehow? (just a thought)

When you do get around to fitting them, it is worth partially removing the plastic arch liners and having a clean out behind these.

So what are you gonna do about this "serious mud guard problem" ??

To be honest I don't care for the looks of them on just about any car, except for a classic body Saab 900. They seem to fit those for some reason.
