Default Side marker

In the beginning...
Are there the following proverbs in US?

"The lawn of the garden of the house next door is blue"

It's a "All property of others looks better than own's property", such a meaning.

Well,
I think very enviable, about the side marker which only US's X has.
(In particular, rear's red marker is very cool!)
Before, I thought imported it from US's dealer.
However, the total of side marker and installation's wages(in Japan) was about 850 dollars! [:-]
(Furthermore, it's price only for rear markers![:-][:-])
And I gave it up.
But some US's ownershide it or even a "clear lens" of a substitute is sold.

I wanted to always ask you.
How do you think about the your car's side marker?

Hah, I never even realized there was a rear side-marker!!! I had to look at old pictures to confirm this. It's pretty subtle and works, IMO. Pretty cool!

I've always fancied front side-makers as my car (not x-type) doesn't have any. It's no longer a luxury option but a safety option. You can't imagine how many times I have tried merging into another lane to have somebody not paying attention fly into the lane I was merging. All this can be alleviated w/side markers. Come to think of it, I've been playing with the thought of installing some Audi A4 markers but alas I'm too lazy. Nor do I want to dump $50 into it.

Dude $850? Seriously, you should have started laughing at them blatantly. That's nuts! If you're a DIY guy, you can probably get someone on here to ship you a set from a junkyard for cheap and wire it up. Well, that is if you already have a hole there. Is there anything in place of our marker on your car i.e. a badge or something? I can't imagine that Jag drilled holes in some of the bodies and not in others. That'd be stupid!
What about our British brothers? Jim just said he had a clear marker, which I'm assuming is factory too, so they apparently have a hole, too.

Hi, Jim
I thought the your car's moldings to be body color from a beginning, though?

Hi, somekidzenvy
Surely, I envied it.
Love your good shape's side marker.

Hi, ancientsanskrit
In the beginning, I apologize if you felt my answer unpleasantly.
Surely, "lawn of the neighbor is blue".(LOL)
And as other reasons,,,
The X's round design is very beautiful.
However, its design make a car look like small, than real dimensions.
I think that the side marker makes up for it a little.
You who live in US think it to be safety option. And I who live in Japan think it to be a kind of design.
But this agreed with you. I never thought that it had value of 850 dollars !

Short chrome mouldings - 160 dollars
Lens - 60 dollars
Bulbs - 7 dollars
Socket - 25 dollars
Shipping - 30 dollars
Wages - 90 dollars
Total - about 370 dollars

Probably, proper price is such a thing. So I think...

[sm=oopssign.gif] my mistake guys........sorry its been a longggg day. I thought for a brief minute you were talking about the side repeaters..lol
We don't have the side markers over here and me personally don't like them. I wouldn't want them on mine and I think I'm right in saying that generally thats the opinion over here.
No offence to the US market....Its just the way that it is over here.

The only reason we have side markers over here in the states is cuz people are to stupid to see you merging. So they need a side repeater to help them stay away from my door panel, most idiot drivers here in the states just wizz in and out of every lane possible lookin for an advantage to get in front of you...

Hi, tokaygecko
If my thought is right, probably the chrome mouldings is attached from reverse side of bumper.
Therefore, this work must remove a bumper.
Furthermore if my thought is right, probably I ****** from rear position light's line, to let a side marker turn on, as to my car which doesn't have "side marker's function".
However, I could never watch the chrome mouldings from there when I tore off the lining of the trunk.
Namely if I do it, I will pay an unreasonable wage to them...
Therefore, I give it up.
However, I thank for an offer from you !

Hi, Jim
No problem !
http://search1.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/...0jp&acc=jp
Sorry, though this is Japanese HP, but you understand it when you watch a lot of pics from there !

Hi, cadillac
My red tail got an idea from a "Town Car".
In a manner of speaking,,, my tail is "US tail !".
Oops! Of course my tail is blinking to umber, andback light shines to white.

Hi, andersen
There are a lot of stupid drivers, in my country.
A topic of "euro tail" was just given. They(in Japan) put even white stop bulbs on a euro tail.
When I stopped after them, I feel very annoying.[:@]

This man speaks the truth...ughh
Like I said, the real fun begins when you're in a car w/o any side-markers at all!

Hey andersen

Sorry, perhaps, I misunderstood your comment?[]
I thought that you said about the traffic manners of your country.
Therefore I wrote such a thing, too.
However, I received comment of ancientsanskrit and thought that it was a mistake.
Oh! Your comment,,, perhaps it...[:-]

Hey S.F.

Just stumbled onto your cardomain page, that car is sweet!!! Really nice subtle mods!

Now, I see why you want the red side-markers, since it will match the red theme you added throughtout the car. Couple questions for you:

Have you dynoed the vehicle? What are you gains w/the intake/exhaust? Also, is the exhaust cat-back or just tips?

Again, really nice looking car you got there!

Hey, ancientsanskrit
I'm glad of your comment.
And you knew "I did compromise and having attached a cheap light reflectors". (LOL)

Well, about your questions.
Unfortunately I don't yet do dyno.
But I intend to do it in the near future.
And exhaust.
I understood your question. However, what's "cat-back" which often is used in English conversation?
And, oh yes, my answer. That's silencers and end's pipes.

Well, you pretty much answered it with "silencers and end's pipes."
So they are what we refer to as "tips."

"Cat-back" refers to the portion of the exhaust system all the way back from the catalytic converter to the outlets/mufflers. It's more of a performance modification since most do it to increase the diameter of the exhaust piping.

I think the side markers look so pathetic! I bought the Euro spec body moldings from the dealer for about $350 (primed). They are a perfect fit for the bumpers and it looks far more clean than just smoking out the lenses. I get pulled over a lot but it looks so OEM that they don't give me any problems. I got the Arden mirrors so I smoked out the signals on the door as well.

Hi, ArdenX

Thanks for teaching how you liked it.
We wanted each other's belongings. (LOL)
And I gave it up, but you really got it.
I respect your action !
Your "Arden mirrors" include turn signals ?
Yeah, probably your X is modern and very splendid, I imagine it !!
