Default Snow tires and better photos

I figured since I posted these on stanceworks, I'd throw them up here. Washed the car today (hence the slight headlight moisture). I may put narrower adapters in back (25mm instead of the 40mm I have on now). I kinda like the aggressive look from back though and don't think it looks too... Latin-America-fitment-influenced (you may know the look I'm referring to. Trying to be politically correct without using the first four letters of our country neighbor to the south). What do you think? Keep or bring the rears in 15mm each side? I already have the 25mm adapters in my garage, so I don't need to spend any money to have them.

40mm is currently winning at a 2:1 ratio on StanceWorks.com

I would have made a poll here, but knew all here would opt for whatever made it look more factory-ish (and to get more than 5 responses might take a month or more), so I wanted a stance community-biased opinion.

I may try one corner tonight to see what it looks like though.

Well not that it matters by the looks of it but I'd go for 25mm spacers too.
The car looks awesome and none of the mods look cheap /tacky or OTT IMO, but, that feature just doesn't do it for me.

EXEPAT, where did you acquire your 5x108 adapters?
I would prefer a type2 adapter with built-in extended lugs, rather than installing longer studs.... or is that the only option?

Lenny Stahl and crew have been doing this for decades. Adapters are easy and will have studs. Minimum width is 20mm and you need open-ended conical seat lug nuts to use them.

They can even redrill 5x112 wheels to 5x108 and as scary as most mod wussies think that sounds, my friend is the most **** tire balancer I've ever known and his redrilled TSW 20's on his S80 have been perfect and mounted for more than a year. When brand new cars go to SEMA and need to get wheels for something else to work with fast turnaround, they call Lenny.

Hey Jeremy

The question is what are you going for? Originally I thought you were going for a sport / luxury car. But with the rear wheels bulging past the wheel well (which I did notice on the last batch of pics but thought it was a bad picture) I'm thinking more of a hydrolic jumper.

Definately go with the narrower spacers, the front wheels tuck perfectly.

In many ways, I prefer the 40mm, but these are more practical and not that bad.

flush, clean, nice... I realize you are utilizing the 40mm look as part of a car subculture many of us are not acclimated to. So I wouldn't take offense.(I'm assuming you didn't)
but nonetheless, I admire your tenacity and any project that becomes symbiotic with the driver... I LOVE car projects, however they assimilate and take form....

Do you happen to have a close-up of your rear wheels, tires and arches? I can assess what it will take in terms of fender clearancing. You may need to rent a fender roller to get 20mm under the back of your car - assuming you are keeping the 19s on there.

Funnily enough, I have a fender roller. I've done the flush-look on several of my vehicles, so I'm ready to go. Thanks for looking out!
I'm quite sure I'll have to roll the fenders, the comfort shocks aren't stiff enough. I may consider implementing sport shocks all-around just to make it happen... The rear shots of your x-type are just fantastic! Aggressive.

That's what I was thinking. I much prefer the stance and look with the 40mm spacers. But for a winter setup, for practicality reasons, the 20mm setup makes much more sense. It'll keep the rear bumper a little cleaner too. Just a little. lol

Yeah. I'm still a little poked (maybe 5mm outside the fender line), but I used to be about 20mm outside of the fender line. That is a mile in offset terms.

Have you considered doing a black vinyl wrap on the roof? It'll visually lower the car too.

Once one stuffs 10" wide wheels under a small "luxury car" you start to void the luxury look and feel anyway. I'm more about breaking pre-conceived notions about how this car "should" look and hopefully doing so without killing it's heritage completely (I think of that as [most, not all] chrome wheels, flame paintwork or lots of decals).
