Default Sound does not go off

Hello

I ve got 03 X type 2.5. There is a sound inside the car seems like if a CD was stuck but in fact there is no CD. This sound is always on and it is a little bit loud . Even if the car is complete turned off and the key is in my hand , it is on.

Any help please
Thank you

The sound you are hearing is almost certainly the small aspirator fan for the climate control. This fan goes into operation when the driver's door is opened and remains on for about 30 minutes after the engine is shut off. All this to prepare the climate control for proper operation. You might think that it continues to run constantly, but it does not. The fan is located behind the small grille to the right if the steering wheel on the dash (LHD cars). The fans sometimes become a bit noisy, especially if they are dirty. The grille can be removed and the fan cleaned. If it is really noisy it can be replaced quite cheaply.

Removing the fan...well, I have not done this myself ( but I did have my dealer replace a fan under warranty because it was a bit noisy). The access is from below but perhaps someone else can help us here. has any one cleaned this fan? I think there is a thread on it under "aspirator fan" which might give more information. In any case, this is the noise you are hearing. If you can put up with the noise you do not need to do anything about it.

Just a correction: I think on the XType the access is by removing the panel which has the aspirator grille. I'll have to give this some thought. In any case, this is NOT something to worry about - it is a noise which does not indicate anything beyond the noise itself.

in order to remove the grill you will need a small plastic trim removal pry bar. You can move it slightly outward and it will stop at the holding clips. You will need a very small screwdriver to gently push the clip toward the grill as you pry out, one on each side.
A good alternative to removing it is to use a shop vacuum cleaner and place it over the grill. If the noise is caused by dirt build up and not a bad fan it will quiet it down.
If the fan motor is bad it is a little more complicated a repair. Try cleaning and report back.

If there are multiple codes some of them might be old stored codes,. The best thing would be to have all the codes cleared and see what then pops up. If the check engine light came on and the car is otherwise driving fine, it could very well be a simple vacuum leak, which car usually be addressed quickly and cheaply. Post the codes and I'm sure someone will be able to direct you on how to proceed.
