Sound System
I am new to this thread so the answer to my question is probably out there somewhere buti thought i would go ahead and ask anyway. I recently pirchassed a 2002 Jaguar X-Type and would like to install a sound system. I already have my system picked out but was wondering if i would need to install an aftermarket head unit or if it could connect to the stock one. Also i saw something about the ACM and didn't know if a system could connect to it. The ACM is pretty high priced and i am on somewhat of a budget so if anyone knows the best and cheapest way to go that would be great, thanks.

Hi, sounds to me that you need these to let you connect an amp to your factory head unit

Wildcats, do you have the NAV setup or do you have a stand alone radio? This makes a big difference as to what your options are. If you have the stand alone radio, then you can do just about whatever you want. if you have the radio with the built in NAV and HVAC controls, then your hands are kinda tied as you would end up having to pretty much redesign your HVAC system since you would no longer have any controls for what you have currently.
As for the ACM module, if you look on E-bay, you can normally find it fairly cheap. Your other option is to find an "FM Modulator". This will take the output of your MP3 player and convert it over to an FM frequency. Then all you do is tune your radio to a specific radio station and you then get to hear your MP3 player through the radio. This hard wires into the antenna, so, the sound quality is going to be about as good as you can get without a direct feed like the ACM provides.
