Default Spark Plug Renewal

I was wondering if anyone noticed a performance increase when they renewed the spark plugs at the recommended 112,000 km. My car has 121,000 km and I am thinking about getting it done. I know it is a big job because the intake and other parts on the top of the engine have to come off. Is it worth if there are no expected benefits?

It is a pretty big job but nothing you shouldn't be able to do yourself, all you have to do is disconnect a few sensors and remove the bolts that are holding down the intake manifold and you should be able to pull the manifold right up and bam! There you have access to the 3 plugs in the back I did it one time myself and it probably took 2 hours or so. Gaping the plugs is what you want to take your time on and make sure you do it correctly. And might as well replace the Intake manifold gaskets while your at it.

There's tons of myths about spark plugs with manufactures promising increased performance/better mileage from their offerings- and everything else is cr*p.

Don't fall for it- a spark is a spark. Either it lights the fuel/air mixture or it doesn't. A bigger, stronger spark doesn't cause the fuel to burn hotter or more completely.

JagYour, unless your plugs are severely worn, the gains that you will see from new plugs is going to be very minimal. If you are still getting good mileage, then I would not worry about it too much. Besides, I thought the plugs were good out to 100K miles (160000 KM)? Kinda like going with the Bosch +4's or the Splitfire plugs, I can tell you from first hand experience that I gained nothing from that other than a lighter wallet. A good double platinum plug is all that is required. You can stick in a standard plug, but you will be changing it back out in 15,000 miles. So, might as well spend a few extra dollars now to never have to do the job again.

It's a very easy job took me 1.5 hours . Just take your time .
