Hi, I have a 2003 X-Type 2.0 Diesel SE Manual Transmission.
When I press the clutch, it makes a squealing sound, almost the same noise as when people press their break and the squealing / squeaking noise. Sometimes it doesnt do this though. Anyone know what the problem is?

I would suggest it's your clutch release bearing that's worn. Had this happen on high mileage cars before. Unfortunately it's a gearbox out job and a days worth of labour if you want to replace the bearing.
It would also be worth replacing the clutch and perhaps the DMF too as the labour is usually the most significant cost factor.
Alternatives are to live with it or sell it.
