Hi,

I have an X type 2004 2.5 v6, which has developed a squeaking/chirping noise which seems to be coming from the front of vehicle left side. only occurs when driving and can only be heard with the windows down and quite load in built-up areas.

any ideas

 

Number 1 cause is =



after these, it could be drop links (I replaced both while in there), then next is front stabilizer bar (bushes) lastly the strut (or bearing bush).

 

Dandy: If you have wheel ramps, try this...… drive the front wheels onto the ramps, lie on your back under the front of the car, and with gloved hands (14 years of road grime down there), push up and pull down on the front subframe and suspension to rock the car up and down. You don't have to be Arnold Schwarzenegger, just rock the front suspension a 1/4 inch or so to make it squeak. Keep grabbing different parts of the suspension as you rock it up and down, and eventually, hopefully you'll grab a suspension member that vibrates in your hand with every squeak.
