Stability Control?
#3
I drove an X-Type today that seemed to have stability control but did not have that button. I suspect that that's the stability control defeat button which is present only when the car has the sport package, but that's just a guess.
Can anyone confirm?
Also, what is the handling package/touring suspension option and how can I tell if it's equipped? Is it more luxurious, sportier or just better in every way?

if the car has DSC, it has the button. No button no DSC.
how did it "seem" to have stability?
All cars have traction control, and ABS, but DSC is different.
DSC adds braking to indivual wheels when you are in a skid. it compares steering wheel angle to yaw and speed sensors, and decides if you are following your intended path. If not, it will apply brakes to jolt the car back into line.

Not 'all cars' have traction control and ABS.
All X-Types do.... and since this is an X-Type forum, that's a reasonable statement, but in the interest of avoiding misunderstanding to those who might not know better,,,,

During the test drive I made a hard right turn much faster than normal. There was some small gravel on the road there and as I accelerated through the curve, the ABS came on. I figured the salesman was correct when he assured me the car had stability control. I suppose that it was actually just the traction control compensating for the gravel.
That's the second time a salesperson put me in danger with a lie. The first time was one who swore up and down to me that the 2wd Durango was AWD. He was angry with me when it fishtailed upon hard acceleration in the wet and almost crashed!
I'll never trust one again.

Their are two type's for salesman. One that know's about the car and those are most of the time the younger salesman. The other one's are that try to lie and sell you the car as fast as they can. I had two to three time that happen to me. i ask if the had this model car with this package, and they say no they dont come with that. They are like rats they try to get what they can get. One time i wanted a new car for my olds SUV they wanted like 200 for the key i am no way i get it cut at home depot or were ever. he told me they cant it has to be at the dealer. i went got it cut started it up and went back to show him what is up with the new key. he just looked at me an said nothing. you have to some times looking some things up on your own if you want the true answer
