Steering wheel badge
#21
I was talking to someone yesterday and he mentioned a glue made by Rhino that he swears is stronger than nails. I have one of the old wheel caps, I'm going to shape trim it and then afex it to a piece of smooth stainless steel (mimic wheel badge) with the rhino glue and see how strong it is. If it passes me trying to pry it with a crowbar, I'll consider doing it on the steering with a newer badge.
I'll report back with results soon.

I'd assume that's just the airbag cover being sold, not the module itself? Since from the earlier pic of the emblem and from looking at the mounting holes on that pic, it's fairly clear that it's impossible to get the emblem off without removing the cover of the airbag. As far as I'm aware, the airbag module cover can't really be put back on easily.

they sell it as an airbag
Summing up, I think if someone has got big ***** and wants to take a risk to be hit by an airbag - the badge can be replaced! LOL

As far as I can tell from the S-Type badge i've got, they were bent inwards to hold the badge in place.
I got it from a guy when I bought an S-Type steering wheel for my XJR, the airbag had deployed and he removed the badge for me (so I got the wheel and the badge, no airbag).
As he explained it, the tabs were bent over so although you could remove the badge by force, it wouldn't be possible to put it back in the same way....

Jag Airbag Badge / Emblem.
Could you tell me where you got this badge / emblem. I popped mine out thinking that the steering wheeling nut was behind it. I had so much trouble trying to get the airbag off to tighten the steering wheel nut, I got frustrated and pried it out with a screwdriver. I put it back in but it's slightly bent and I'm just going through the car replacing little cosmetic pieces like that. I'm not able to find just the badge, called my local Jag Dealer here in Dallas Texas and was told I would have to buy the entire airbag.
Thanks,

Here is a badge that was removed from the airbag of a 2003MY S-Type R
Obviously the airbag had been deployed.
Those tabs are pushed through slits in the leather and folded over.
So while you might be able to remove the badge from a complete airbag, you will never be able to put it back in the same way.
That might be ok if you are glueing the replacment badge on.
The other option is to buy an airbag from a later model, they had black badges instead of green...

Without it, more than likely you'll be going through the windshield..

I looked yesterday and could not find the part in my pile of interior bits, but I know it was saved. One of my teammates tried to organize it all, but he is out of town until the end of the week. When he gets back I'll have him try to locate it.
