Stereo unlock codes, help!
Hey guys good to be here. I used to use the UK version of this forum but just found this one here in the US so pretty happy about that. I have an 02 Jaguar X-Type 3.0 Sport, limited edition silver w black interior. Great car, a real head turner. Here is my issue. The CD changer in the back crapped out and I am swapping the front stereo to one with a cd player. If its locked up does anyone have any unlock codes??? Will I be able to call the dealer with the serial# of the unit and get it?

owners manual?
Are you a 5 speed or Auto? - just curious.
What is limited edition silver? - also curious.
Does your car have navigation? if so read the recent post about the changer. There is important info on how to activate the system for a CD or Tape in dash player. If no nav.. then nevermind.

I dont have an owners manual for the stereo I bought on Ebay. Thats why I need to find where I can get the code. Its an automatic, the info I got with the car said limited edition silver so thats why I called it that (basically its silver). No navigation, just a used radio from ebay, any help would be great. Thanks

RE: Stereo unlock codes, help!
yeah, really not that big of a deal guys. I have worked on the x many a time and its all plug and play, just wanted to see if anybody hada free way to get the code if I needed it.If it needs the code and I cant get it from the*********** I will just put it back on ebay. 95% of this car is modules and sensors that you just swap out, the only pain I have ever had is with the audio system. I must be asking this question in the wrong place if you thing changing the stereo is a big deal. Thanks though.

No, it's not a big deal...actually a very easy swap....the only hard part is getting the code.....and jag doesn't release those codes like some other companies do (unfortunatly) but i suppose it makes a thief think twic about stealing a radio and knowing he won't get the code...
Anyway, like I said, it's an easy swap but you'll have to take it to the dealer to clear the code...
Infact, any module you swap out will enable the security system and the car will not start.....once again, the dealer can unlock it but they want your money....

Trust me brother I know they want my money lol. Thats why I was trying to find another way of getting it because my dealership is a bunch of thieves. Maybe I will get lucky and it wont need one, sometimes they dont and if I have to pay then so be it. Hate my dealership and the next closest one is like 30 miles further away so I try and work on it myself whenever possible. Great car, just wish some of the parts were more universal. I will let you guys know how I make out, thanks.

Hey just wanted to give an update. Got my stereo w/cd in last week, just got to put it in. It came with the VIN# from the old car but didnt need it. Plugged the unit in and it works fine (not locked). Pretty happy, cant remember how much the dealers wanted but my ebay purchase was well under it im sure.
