Yeah,
I suffered a heart attack two years ago. While I was in hospital and then recovering my x-type (which had been serviced by the dealer three weeks before) battery totally died. I had to buy a new one. I replaced the battery to find the radio required a code. Easy, the code was in the manual when I bought the Jag, from a Jag dealer. When I tried the code did not work. So, go to the dealer because jaguar have a database where they store the codes. Got the code from Jaguar, did not work. Dealer said they could get the code by the radio serial number, just leave it with them for an hour. Did that, when I returned the radio was working again. Dealer charged me £100 for the service. Could have bought one and installed for less.

I tried MeMo's unlock idea after changing the battery in my 2004 XK8. No luck. So, I decided, rather than pull the console etc, to try one of the online "Radio Code" services. Supplying them with my VIN and $24 hard earned dollars, they sent a code in about 2 days. It worked perfectly. No radio serial number needed after 1996, so states the site. Apparently, there is a data base for such things.

Silly question:
press (next + A MEM + PTY ), when you say next you mean >> right? And press them simultaneously or one at a time?
I have a replacement radio with a CD to replace my cassette. Just getting ready to install it.
Just a FYI, I had my battery disconnected for a while when I installed my ACM, and upon reconnection the radio worked right off the bat.

My battery went dead and I tried (next + A MEM+PTY) Not sure what (next) is so I pushed the right arrow button. Now the radio reads "Please Wait" and nothing works. Any idea what to do? I tried pulling the fuse and putting it back in but same thing. (Fixed) "Please Wait" means you have to let your radio on for at least 30 minutes before trying another code. (next + A MEM+PTY) worked fine.
