Hello Mr. xtype, my 02x sport has premium and the speakers size appears to be 61/2 inches. i dont know if its differant in the non.

 

The speaker sizes are 6.5 in the doors. You can put anything in there from a 6.5 to smaller. There would be a small amount of alteration going smaller but 99% of the time you'd have to alter stuff to fit anything but stock speakers. Most of the time aftermarket speakers have quite a bit larger magnets that have a larger mounting depth. Generally mdf works quite well and it's not too much work.

I sold 4 sets of mb quart component speakers to spartanx and beelab on here. I tried to get feedback from both of them on how they sounded and what not but they never got back to me. The kit was the mb quart esa213 and I was getting them for about 45 shipped to me. Personally if your going to rip the doors apart I'd just invest in speakers and plan on changing them out whether they are broke or not. I can get all sorts of brands from any of the maxxsonics (mb quart, hifonics, autotek and crunch) to re audio and others. Prices range depending on the model and size you want.

To me it sounds asinine when someone would tell me all 4 speakers in their doors blew! Pretty weird sounding if you ask me! I'd check your amp in the back before you start tearing the doors apart though.

Yes all 4 door speakers were gone, i just changed them out today, door panels came off and on quite easy. i got some not to expensive 6.5 inch speakers and stuck them in, sounds pretty good to me. I also fixed the washer fluid low light thats been on for days now too. i'm quite proud of myself!. I'll be back when something else goes bang.

 

What'd you put up in there? Not sure but I'd imagine there is a low pass filter somewhere on the factory amp since you've got the premium sound. Hopefully the speakers you bought have a built in filter for the tweets that I imagine are attached in the speaker?

 

hay aquil, dont laugh but i baught 2 pioneer speakers from wal-mart, $40. they dont have tweeters there is a seperate feed for the 4 door tweets, i got 2 for the front to see what they souded like and they seem quite good, the other 2 can wait till i got another spare $40.
the original ones that i took out looked like they could'nt be any cheaper.

Silly question: what is the power output of the stock radio (basic 4 speaker setup)? Please note whether it is peak or RMS ratings. I have a set of 5.25" Blaupunk separates that I have just sitting in my garage and have thoguht about upgrading a little bit. Just wanted to make sure that they would work. I have looked at the MB Quartz ES-213's (if I remember the model right). I just wasn't sure how good those speakers were. I know MB Quartz is normally good material, but at the same time, you get what you pay for.

Yeah they should be 2-way speakers meaning there is a tweet and driver meaning 2 way. If it had 2 types of tweets and the driver it would be considered 3 way...

As many as they can fit I guess...I've seen 8 waysbut it's completely not necessary.
I'd go 3 way at most but personally I'd just do components. If you have subs and sets of components you don't need any more unless you have some mad bass in the thing.


Although that door has a fosgate sub in it as well...y'all should see the 8-18's in the back of it! Thing has 30k watts rms of rockford power...
