Stock Stereo w/Sub

Stock Stereo w/Sub
I've had my 10" Alpine Type-R sub and Alpine Amp in my closet from my last car and decided to put it in the Jag since it's collecting dust. Best Buy installed it with ease and it finishes out the sound extremely well. I don't have the upgraded stock system, so just the 6 speakers ... but man does the sub make it sound complete. Then I can turn the base down on the speakers and let the sub work it's magic.
Just FYI incase anybody was pondering adding a sub to the stock stereo. I'd recommend it.

I've done that too, I have a hi power alpine mono block amp that fits exactly above the cd changer in the boot and still fits nicely behind the cover. I have a single 6.5 JL audio sub in a DIY custom enclosure, and it is so suprisingly poweful it is untrue. I had it on the shelf previously but was not impressed byt the panel rattle.
I thought i had some mdf so i'll make a box, and as it is a 6.5 inch sub it does not require a massive box, 6x6x9 inch if in a square box. very pleased with it and I will carpet the box.

I had the same kind of setup in my last X-Type. I used the factory stereo system, as I didn't really like the look of any aftermarket system I've ever seen installed in an X-Type, and added an Eclipse Titanium 10" sub in a custom made box, with an Eclipse amp. I had the box made, so that fit the exact length of the back of the trunk, and had it carpeted to match, so it would blend in. It added nicely to the sound of the system and as jjones91 said, I was able to turn down the bass on all of the speakers and still get an even richer sound.
I still have this setup sitting around, and seeing this post, makes me want to put it in my current X-Type, but I also like having the extra trunk space.

I did this myself as well. I had the premium alpine system but I decided I wanted a little more bass so I installed a 400 watt rms Kicker CVR with amp. I wired it all up myself with a line output converter tapped from the rear deck shelf. It sounds great. I really think the premium system on this car is amazing.

I really don't have a trunk rattle other than my license plate frame buzz a tad. Although I'm just running one 10" type-r. It hits hard but like I'd said before, impressed with the lack of rattles when it hits.
