Default Strut mount and strut bearing different parts?

Does the x-type sport have a separate strut mount and bearing for the front or is it all one piece? Ours is making a clunking noise in the front. I have replaced the sway bar end links and the sway bar bushings. The struts look alright and aren't leaking any fluid. They do have the sport label on them as well. Not sure if they've been replaced before or they're still original struts from when the car was new.

Attached is a parts blow up for the front suspension. They are different and the part numbers are listed.
SNG Barrett should have them.

Yes, seperate parts. Labeled #6 on that doc.
Bad bearing will cause clunks.
Entire strut assembly needs to be removed to get to the bearing.
Post back if you need more info.
Bearing is about $30 on ebay

So its most likely the bearing and not the mount?

Last year mine started making a clunking noise from the front and it was a broken front spring, worth checking first.

One indicator of bad bearing is uneven tire wear on the shoulder of the tire.
I could not find a way of testing while still on the car, when i took the bearing off, it was obviously bad.
I replaced struts at the same time.
Its quite a bear of a job but do-able
You WILL need to buy or borrow coil spring compressors.
Also check your side marker lights, they can become loose and make a noise over bumps

I did notice the other day the front tires are wearing on shoulders. Thought it might be an alignment issue.

It took me 70,000 miles to figure out why i kept killing tires.
Learn from my mistake.. Lol
I would replace both sides bearings at a minimum
Pic shows last new tire with only 3000 miles with the bad bearing

Bad struts and bad bearings cause ugly things to happen
