strut mounts and bearing

Hey there Buddha, welcome! You should go to the "New Members" area and introduce yourself.
I did the same project on my X recently. The X has struts in the front and shocks in the rear; doesn't have struts all the way around. My struts (Monroe OESpectrums) came with a metal spacer that was basically a thick washer, possibly made of brass. I had a mobile mechanic put them in, and he screwed up and put a spacer in one side, but not in the other. Long story short, the side with the spacer made a clunking sound at low speeds and over dips. I knew which side it was bc the threaded strut shaft did not stick up as far on the passenger strut tower under the hood.
Anyway, I pulled it all apart, removed that spacer, and voila! No clunking, car has a sweet ride now. Do a search, you'll find several threads on the subject.
Enjoy your new wheels!
