I was asking h20boy...I can't remember if he had a kenwood deck or not.

As for an in-dash radio I'd say see what fits your budget and go from there. IMO they are all pretty decent units as long as you are dealing with the name brands. I prefer pioneer but this years kenwood stuff seems to be a better deal and imo better aesthetically. You could also look into jensen, I've installed a few flip outs and was actually surprised at the quality.

For instance this unit, VM9022hdn, has a hd tuner and navigation for $600. You really can't beat that kind of deal unless your buddy can get you a deal on one. Personally I think that the portable gps systems are probably better than all the navigation units you can buy that are pre-built into a head unit. I've never owned one that was built into a head unit but I know how much I hate the portable gps and how not up to date it is even though it is updated, I'd imagine its worse for a head unit that has it.

If you wanted just a vm9022hd those are $400 or a vm9022 which has no hd is $380 through sonicelectronix. I've never purchased from sonic.

The choice is yours. Personally I'd think of the features you really need, think of a price you want to spend and shop around on the sonicelectronix website. If you can, find a shop that actually has some double dins to play with so you can see what you might like before you buy.

Keep in mind some of the lower stuff has not so pretty graphic interface's but you pay for the nicer stuff. Some have the option of changing the screen colors and the button illumination colors. Keep in mind when you find one you like go to youtube and check them out on youtube to see if you really like it.

Thanks again for everyone thats been helping me out.

But if I do choose to go with a aftermarket head unit, don't I have to buy some plug for the X in order to connect all the wires from the unit? If so, how would I find that?

If you do a search on the topic on this board, you will find a couple of write-ups on that very issue I believe.

For the wiring harness for the stock wiring to the harness from the aftermarket radio look here. Nexxia is the only place that I've ever seen that has a wiring harness for the x-type. You'll end up spending about $100 shipped (IIRC) for both the wiring harness and the antenna adapter. You could also get the dash kit but I don't remember how much more it is vs. the metra kit.

It will be a little bit of work and wont be too cheap but I'd do the head unit swap. You'll be able to connect an ipod or other mp3 player and can control the sub you have without having to get into the trunk to do it.

If you need more help let us know.

Search with keywords like "radio installation" or "aftermarket radio" or "dvd/cd" ...stuff like that. You will find all kinds of info on radio upgrades and maybe even get some ideas.

One of the Dennis's on the board has a real nice writeup with pics.
