I need some help. My X gives response to the security code or the fwrd ptt a mem trick. I ve used the Pin several times before, so im sure I have the correct one. After removing my battery and replacing it it just doesnt work anymore.. so i have the good code and also tried the bypass. Also tried te fully discarche by connecting the + and -. Any ideas?
I presume you refer to the 4-Numeric Security Radio Code used on European specification Jaguar models in the 1990's and early 2000's like this example from an XK8 I had?
The number is 'hard' coded and not in volatile memory. It therefore cannot be bypassed by disconnecting/reconnecting power to the audio unit. There are only three possibilities:
1. a radio fault developed since the previous power disconnect
2. a 'sticky' button not responding to the press when entering the code
3. entering the wrong code
These coded units were fitted is response to the huge level of car radio theft (especially in the UK) in the 1980's/90's and have always been a real nuisance when things go wrong. Sometimes the only solution is to 'jump' the security chip on the circuit board to permanently disable it.
