Taking ones own advice, how special is that.
In all my years,, I have spoken of a battery miner/tender on cars used less often than others.
My X Type:
\
Dec 09 build
2.1 V6 petrol
Automatic trans
Front Wheel Drive.
134036kms.
Daily driver, 2 year old battery. Never had any issues. The Managing Director specified it was time to use the S Type for a while, YES DEAR.
10 days later, started the X Type, sweet as a nut as usual. Swapped the cars around, and moved on.
Driving home yesterday, shiitty day, A/C on hard, and 1km from home, NOTHING, it simply went into what I now know is limp made, BUGGA, 1st time for everything.
Got home, checked the obvious, scanned the beast, NOTHING. NO CEL, Bugga again.
Engine running battery test showed 15.3v OOPS. Engine OFF, waited 1 hour, battery tested 12.6, Bugga.
Charged the battery overnight, now sits at 12.9 static, and has held that all day. Engine running, 15.3 for 15 minutes, then back to 13,7ish, Better.
Went through all the items in "search", and thanks Thermo, the 36 button press did all and more, and the resistance test of ALL the battery leads proved all OK.
So, I should have attached the battery tender, even for10 days.
Never too old to learn anything. Modern cars and battery integrity, #1 no matter what.
