Thanks everyone! But my X-Type is gone...
First, my sincere thanks to the admin team and members here who made me feel welcome, and were so gracious in assisting me - the poster boy
for the mechanically challenged.
I purchased the silver sweetie for my wife, Kay, who had always wanted a Jaguar. Once hers, she deemed it "perfect". Sadly, health problems
allowed her only a short period of enjoyment. And she passed away a few months ago.
We picked up the cosmetically-pristine X-Type from a friend for a good price. And over the last 18 months have invested another couple of
grand in maintenance and repairs. But further pending expenses related to AC, carrier bearing and rear suspension work, led me to think practically
for a change. Also, it had become extremely difficult emotionally to interact with Kay's baby.
So two weeks ago I traded "smooth and sexy" for "square and boxy" - a 2006 Honda Pilot. Blasphemy? Perhaps, but I hope not. The Pilot is a wonderful
vehicle and has provided a modicum of peace of mind. And it is the same color as the Jag!
I hope you will permit me to continue to participate here. jaguarforums.com has treated me kindly and with respect. This forum is remarkably vitriol-free
and true to its purpose. I appreciate that more than you can know.
Sincerely,
Bill

Bill, my condolences on Kay's passing. I can empathize with you. My Sweetie passed more than two years ago and our Kitty went to be loved by another more than a year ago.
I, like you, have so enjoyed this community, not to mention the wealth of help and expertise, that even now that I'm jagless (double Lexus owner) I still check in here at least once a week.
Please do continue on the forum. you will likely at least be able to be helpful to new members. Other than that its always entertaining to see Thermo jump in with his expertise, see how Jim and the other Admins keep the forum on point and see what new wheel configuration Exexpat has come up with this month.

Bill, as above, so sorry to hear of your wife's passing, suffice to say our thoughts are with you.
I totally appreciate your point of view on the car change, a constant reminder I'm sure.
Please rest assured, Jag owner or not, you are a valued member here and will always be made to feel welcome by one and all.
All my very best
Jim

Bill,
Sorry to hear of your loss. Seeing that you are a senior member of this forum indicates to me that you have spent your fair share of time on this forum and probably know more about the X Type than many others, even if you got your knowledge the hard way (like I am getting mine now...) We all hope you do not forget your friends here at the forum and continue to participate and share a "nugget every now and then" to help the rest of us mechanically challenged..
The One Eyed Man Is King In the World of The Blind.
God Bless you and your family.
