THere is a trubo out there for our cars
Okay, so i know thers alot of discussion about turbo charging, superchaers and our x types, the main problem is the engine will kill it self, and the transfer case, for the people who are actauly considering this there is a kit availible.

I can see atleast 2 pieces missing from the kit. That would be the 2 new headers needed to direct the exhaust over to the turbo. I can't imagine how you would use the stock headers to accomplish this. Not to mention that if it is having you use your stock headers, the cats are long gone and never returning. That is a CEL waiting to happen. Besides, $1100 for a kit like this is a price that makes everyone think that they can have a turbo on their car. Then after buying the kit, they find out they need another $2000 in just parts, not counting any customization that is required. Sounds like a group selling what appears to be a full kit and it ends up only being half of what is needed.
Please also note that to get the quoted "485 hp", you have to have a "mildly rebuilt motor". Read that is new pistons, tons of head work, etc. Add another $5000 atleast to that kit to get to the point of saying "now lets install the turbo".
Sorry, I will pass. If I am going to built my X-Type for speed, then it is getting converted to RWD only and then a new motor is going in that will not have a weakness.

This is a "universal kit". This is the reason for it's very attractive price. Major fabrication will be required to install this particular kit. The seller is hoping you'll mistake it for a "bolt-on" kit, which it is not.
Even if it were a bolt on kit, I wouldn't recommend it. Our X-types require premium unleaded fuel for a reason. The reason being: cylinder temperature before ignition is very high. This requires a fuel with a high flash point. 92/93 octane is considered "premium fuel" in the US, and is just about the highest you can get at the pump, with some *VERY* rare exceptions of 99 octane VP that's sold at some gas stations. Any form of forced induction added to our vehicles would increase cylinder temperatures to an unacceptable level for our readily available form of premium fuel.
Serious engine modification is required to add any form of forced induction to an X-type.
