Tires and Size

Tires and Size
I have searched some threads and it seems as though a 225/50/16 will fit on the factory rim. However, there have been a few posts that say that is too much of a stretch. I think the newest of the posts was 2010, so I wanted to know if others have installed the wider tire on factory rims with success?
There are really nice options for tires in the 225 range at a good price. At 205 the options are either spend a little more for a similar great tire or spend less for an okay tire.
BTW- I would like a 200tw tire, and they sell BFG Rivals for $125ea, but only in the larger size. If the 225 doesn't work I would likely go for Yoko Vantage Sport V105 for $90. I'm just a little nervous these won't last a weekend of racing. On a side question, if anyone has used the Yokos how did they hold up and perform?
Thanks for the advice

Pirreli show that 225/55/16 is an option for that car? may be euro spec?
But most sites say 215 is widest for 6.5J rims that you have,
so you could use 215 but that would be be 11mm(1.74%) bigger/smaller diameter depending on 55/50 aspect ratio. recommended max is +/- 2.5%
see you are talking about weekend racing what about getting aset of 17's?
are they tyres doing weekend racing and street use?
I would ask at reputable tyre depot about it?

Thanks for the information! My goal is to move up to 17s, as there are a lot of tire options for that diameter. Unfortunately the race series added a new safety requirement that killed the team budget by $800. Have to make cuts so it was new rims. Next season we will likely move up to 17s. Looks like I'll probably get 205 then.
