Default RE: Tranny Flush and HID Question

I changed my tranny fluid last week and refilled it with mobil1. And then I'm going to test drive it and the car would not move when I shifted in to reverse, I tried and tried and nothing, check fuses and what not and still nothing. Finally decided to take it to the dealer for service: Diagnostic-"you need a new tranny". What could of happen? the tranny was fine before the fluid change, I didn't drive car after the fluid change because it wouldn't move in reverse only foward(D). The car is been service now under the warranty.

Hey jahuertas how exactly did you change your tranny fluid? From what I understand it sounds like a crappy process with a lot of work involved...good luck with the warranty work...you should try and get them to see how much it would have cost if you hadn't had the warranty...I want to know what a new tranny costs!

Acctually it's easy.first, jack the car up,take off the driver's side tire and you'llsee the filling bolt ; it is a torx kind of bolt. I went UNDER the car andused a 18mm socket, a 6" extension and one of those little extensions that move to the sides, I'm not sure what's called, to take it out. The bolt it's really hard to take out but I used a pry bar and it came out. Try to take the filling bolt out first just in case if you are not able to take it out , you won't be with stuck with a tranny without fluid. Second, drain the fluid by removing the draining bolt which is a 22mm or 23mm bolt, I can't recall which one, and put back when empty. Make sure you dont overtight as you may ruin the treadin the tranny. And last, refill. Use a1/4 flexible hose and route from the engine down to the filling hole. From the tire well ,try to insert the hose in the filling hole or have somebody hold it for you.I put about 3 1/2 quarts of fluid which was about the same amount that came out from it. I hope this helps, but I WOULD NOT do it again.

That is the general consensus...to swap out all the fluid is a little harder than just pulling a plug and draining...pretty sure it was a empty fill empty....fill procedure many times over again not just a pull the plug the fluid comes out and than you refill it...

Sounds basically like the procedure written up in the FAQ section.
Looks like its a real female dog to do.
There have been reports of empty /refill / empty / refill / empty / refill as a way of eventually repacing all the old oil. Seemingly it never fully empties[&:]

For all I know , flushing the tranny would do more harm than good unlike radiator .Just drain and refill the system with the new filterthat should be ok

I forgot to mention, I did the procedure 3 times because the first time that I did it, the car would not move in reverse only foward, so I flushed two more times after driving around the block, but still no reverse.
