Default tranny question

so my auto tranny when i wish to manually shift throughtthegears won't go into 2nd. first, is there a seperate shifter part to tranny? i have an aftermarket warranty and it covers
TRANSMISSION
All internal lubricated
parts in:
• Transmission case
• Torque converter
• Bell housing. so do i have to come out of pocket or do i luck out and get it fixed? i need to get my rear passenger door lock actuator replaced and want to roll it all up. dont want to be at the shop and hear, Well Bill it doesn't cover "that particular part". as always, thanks, Bill

If it doesnt do anything in second, are you referring to the shifter not lighting up in second?
If this isthe case it is more likely to be your j-gate being bad. Also the range switch in trans.
I would call ext warr co and ask them if they cover the shifter. Also ask if they cover the power door latches for not working. At least that way you'll know whether to take the lube to the dealer with you.

the door acuators are covered. the shifter won't go into second at all. shift 3rd and 4th. no 2nd.put it in drive and it goes, try to jgate shift and nothing. car runs and shifts automatically fine, just cant go throught the gears "manually". thanks,Bill

Sounds like a j-gate problem or an adjustment

take the right side carpet off... 1 phillips screw and pullthen. in park, disconnect the shifter cable then go thru the j gate.. with cable disconnected... takes 10 min... then if it goes to 2 then it needs a cable .. if it still doesnt then it needs a assembly..
