I was poking around under the hood the other day. I think if you remove the battery and tray the fill hole will be right in front of you.

skyjump, you must have aan auto tranny, and what you are seeing is the fill plug for the transmission, not the transfer case.in order to get too transfer case, you must remove a mount and fill from top .

Nah...I know where the transmission fill hole is. That is to the left of the battery right next to the airbox. This is under/behind the battery tray (or mount as you say) and uses a 3/8 wrench to remove the fill plug.

skyjump,do you have a 5 speed tranny or an automatic???you may be right if you have an auto,if you have a 5 speed (I do) there is nothing under battery tray,or under battery. The tranny housing is smaller on a 5 speed and there is nothing under battery.

I do have an auto, but I could still be wrong (it has happened on more than one occasion). The plug I saw was very similar to the one in this picture...

It was a little behind where the battery is, but I saw it when I removed the battery. It looks like you just need a ratchet head to open that up.

the reason I was saying this is ,because when I replaced my motor,I had wished I would have changed the fluid on transfer case, now I have to take an engine mount off and use a hand held pump to fill from top.unless I remove the transfer case again. In the autos the fill plug for the auto transmission is located below battery tray. But not the transfer cas.Wish it was as easy as you said.If you call the dealer, they even charge you to remove the transfer case,if you want to change fluids.

just got back from dealer, spoke to head mechanic,he said in order to fill transfer case, you must remove engine mount catalitic converter and drop transfer case.As far as dealership is concerned, they will do it by only dropping the transfer case, since they say there is no space between filler plug and floorpan on car.WHAT A PAIN IN THE A.....
