Default Transfer Case flush only $165 at Jaguar Dealership

Had to wait a couple days before the necessary fluids arrived, but I'd say for only $165 bringing her in at 9am and having her back by 1pm without having to create special tools and calculations to measure and guess etc. It was well worth the cost.

I think I'll be doing this once a year... pretty cheap insurance considering this is the one piece of Kryptonite for the Jaguar X-type.....

Willis Jaguar in West Des Moines for the win.

It would be interesting to know what they are actually doing for $165. Pulling the pinion to drain? Tilting the car to refill? Please ask!

Yeah I wonder if they have a special pump or something? I paid $60 at my local Euro mechanic and I watched them do it to make sure something was actually being done.

Hmmm, I wonder how they actually do it. I wouldn't put it past some mechanics to confuse the differential case with the transfer case.

I informed them that i already flushed the transmission and differential. Tech seemed to know what he was talking about...

They just drain and fill.. I inquired at my local dealer and that was the price they quoted.

I went to my local Jag specialist and paid $50 for the same job the dealer does and saved $$$..

The reason that people who have done it ask is because the fill plug on the TC is inaccessible. JTIS has no fill procedure other than removing the TC (NOT a $50 job). So the answer "just drain and refill" leaves a lot unsaid and causes those who have done it to doubt the statement.

Thats what it was.. Like me there are other guys here that have had their cars fixed @ Jag Pro in Bellmore NY. The owner Martin is a great guy and knows his way around Jags so he is the one who did the work. I went to him with the price I got from the dealer and he beat it hands down, saying it was a simple drain and fill. I guess for him its easy to do and I do not doubt his skill.
