Default Transfer case: LS oil or not

Time to check that transfer case oil again.. Its been a few years now.
75-140w but i forget.. Limited slip oil or not?
Probably going to use Royal Purple

As long as it synthetic and 75w140...nothing else to worry about..I used Royal Purple as well.

iownme, if you have the viscous coupling transfer case (ie, the earlier one), then you might find that when making sharp turns, there may be a little bit of wheel hop/jerkiness to the car due to limited allowance for wheel speed differences. But, this is worst case. I have a feeling that you probably won't notice a difference. If you have the later transfer case. you will not notice any difference between LS oil and non-LS oil.

I have a 2002 with the vic coupling the best in my opinion transfer case ,from day one I put Redline gear oil and never had a issue, it bullet proof, for me ,in my race car Rx7 that's what I use redline,
In my jag I drive it nice and easy no issues smooth as butter

All Red Line products IMO, are far superior than anything out there..

I get mine from Amazon..I just bought some for my GMC's Transfer case and rear Differential..Hard to find from a sticks and bricks store

No stores have it here so i got royal purple instead... I'll pre-plan next time and go online

No worries..Royal Purple is my second choice, in fact it is what I used in my X-type and I read somewhere that it even has some properties that actually help with healing (if you will) marred or scored surfaces, making them smooth and mirrored like again..
