Transmission service

Just had my,new to me, 2009 X type serviced.
As part of the service I instructed the mechanics to service the auto transmission and change its fluid - even though they are supposedly "sealed for life". I don't believe any fluid could last forever - hence the service.
The tranny has just done 91,000 KM so I thought it was time... I'm glad I had the service done, she shifts beautifully - the only downside is that it cost $600 AUD for the transmission service component alone, which hurt - total service cost was just over $1000 including engine oil / service.
I don't mind paying though, I'd rather the job was done right. Which brings me to the criticism that some may aim at me - namely, why didn't I service the tranny myself?
Answer: I don't have a convenient workshop nor tools to do this with. I park in a dimly lit communal parking space at the basement of my unit.
This one's a keeper - best car I've ever had.

this can easily be performed without a workshop, in a communal parking lot with just 2 wrenches, 1 for the battery terminals and 1 for the drain plug, you would also need a small funnel to refill and a container to catch the 3qts of oil.
if i had excess $$$ and a mechanic i trusted then i would have them do it.....unfortunately i have neither!
