RE: Trunk problem (need help fast)
It's my understanding that the boot/trunk is electronic on the X-type and there is no option to open it manually. Again, I have limited experiences with this, but I'm pretty sure I'm right.
Need help fast, huh? What do you got bodies laying in there?!
I'm pretty sure the rear seats are fold-down to access the trunk if it really is a big emergency (probably easier just to plug the battery back in though).

It all depends on your Jag's favor lol ...If it doesn't like to open it wouldn't [:-][8D] .
It's a joke but I will tell ya a true story .My first XJ40's trunk stayed locked and mind that there was no any remote release button unlike late models where itwas located into the glove box .So anyway, we tried everything but no managed to open it [&:]lol

You cannot open manually from outside, but if you do not have fold down seats, you can pull the seat bottom up then remove seat back and reach through into the trunk and pull the emergency release handle. If you have folding rear seats I am not sure. Would have to look at one......
You could always hook the battery back up?

Thanks, I was afraid of that....guess Jaguar didn't anticipate the Fire Dept cutting the battery cables post crash.
No bodies in the trunk (good one though), just my kids little league gear, other personal stuff I need to get out.
Looks like the RedJag will soon be history....

Sorry to hear of your accident.
I locked myself out of the boot and the only access is to remove the rear seat base and then rear seat back (non fold type) to get keys from boot after shortinga wire to open the doors. No emergency release handle on UK cars.

Thanks to all for the concerns. We are sore and hoping to get better but are all walking and talking so that's positive. It appears theJag lived up to its safety rating and performed well given the situation.I.e - crumpled where it should have to protect us,airbag deployment, etc.
On the trunk thing...it does have the fold down seats, but the releases are in the trunk. How do Ifold them down w/o access to the release?
Thanks again!

Good to hear that everyone is ok. that soreness wil be gone by next week, it always hurts worse two days after. (adreneline is gone and things stiffen up). that sucks about the red jag, i am glad it kept you safe.
Thereshould bebuttons on the top corners of the rear seat to release the seat and drop them down. inside the trunk is a yellow plastic thing on a string then if you pull opens the trunk.
if there isnt a button on the rear seats, they are in the trunk and are these things to pull to unlock it. yellow color too.
if its the latter then you are screwed, but since the car is "totaled" any way just rip down the 40%seat of the 60/40 split to get in. Wait is there a Ski opening in the middle???i cant remember?
i will look into it and see if i can find anything
