Valuation question... (re: 04.5 X-Type)
First things first...yes, I obviously know about the various pricing sites. I have found them lacking on realistic values on many vehicles when they fell into the difficult-to-replaceium category though...
For those who may not have seen my post last week in the SW forum seeking assistance in the Dallas area, my ex had the '04 in their possession following our split a few months ago. They had issues that resulted in an impounding from which I have now rescued the X-Type and will likely be looking to sell it (I actually like my '03 better than the '04.5).
The problem I have in trying to come up with a reasonable number is that there are so few of the manual transmissions out there...at one point a few weeks ago, I found NONE in a 300 mile radius from my office. I know what I originally paid and got what I felt was a deal from a dealership that took it in as trade because I know dealers do not like keeping manual trannies on their lots in this day and age. And, being a Jaguar, it will also likely narrow my target audience further. But, with there being so few on the market, it means that the numbers that the price guides are based upon are capable of fluctuating wildly.
For those of you that would be selling in such a situation, how are you justifying the price you attach to it?
(And, if it helps in the thought processes...when I originally bought the car, I discovered the original window sticker and sales contract customer copy in the glove compartment, so it is a documented one-prior-owner).
I hope that makes sense...
