i doubt this, but others might think differently.
i see on here alot that some get upset with the decline in value of the x-type.
since production stoped in 2008 of the x type,
do you think if you kept one in mint condition and say 10-20 years down the road it was an old cat but maintained that the value will increase again as there will be less and less of them in the world?
like a collectable i guess.

I can't see that happening with the X. If you bought one and put it in a wrapper for that amount of time and then tried to sell it, what would you get? Maybe ten grand if you were extremely lucky? I won't even get into things that would go bad from lack of use. Just because somethng is rare doesn't always mean it's valuable. Unfortunately I think our cars fall into that category. I think my car is pretty rare in that it is the last model year they offered a manual transmission and it's a 3.0 liter and it's a Sport model and it has the carbon fiber/alcantara interior package and every option but navigation and the phone. Probably only a few hundred like that in 2005, if that, but chances are no one would care about that if they were looking for one. Best thing is enjoy it for what it is now because it's definitely not an investment.

NOT A CHANCE! The car would rust and fall apart some areas are not primed good from factory. But Maybe a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda would worth more.

most of us will be dead before you could see a rise in value ![Smile](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I have 4 cars cause I have TOO much money in them on top of purchase to think about selling them...They all give me different enjoyments(value)....a stock is only a LOSS if you sell it for less than you paid...otherwise its just a paper (er electronic) value
a cars value is what it meens to YOU..if you think buying cars are a $$$ investment you need to go back to finance school

Jay Leno had some good advice on what car to buy and why a few months ago in his regular PM column. He was targeting the age old question of investing (which this thread is not necessarily about). His advice was basically to buy a car that you love, and everything else works out in the end.

I don't think I have the discipline to not drive something, even if I thought it would be worth big bucks down the road. Who knows when your clock runs out? Enjoy it for every minute. I think most of the people who have very valuable older cars now and were the original owners or got them a long time ago mostly stumbled upon the value by sheer dumb luck. Some perhaps are savvy enough, but not many I don't think.
But anyway, I don't believe the X will ever be a classic that is worth much of anything down the road.

seen a 04 jaguar X sell for $3K on ebay a few days ago and it had a clean car fax and lower then normal miles, for 3k whats going on? there's a few in that range right now on ebay.
ever wonder why a cars value drops 10K in a year? I would have made out on my jaguar if i did " Cash for Clunkers "
