Default vibrations at runspeed 60-70mph

Earlier, my prop shaft has been replaced, they replaced the tranny fluid and did some engine work... after 3days, after the whining noise disappeared after prop shaft replacement, there's this disturbing vibrations that i cant tell which area its coming from. The whole car vibrates. It only happens between 60mph to 70mph

I have several hunches:
1. could it be my tires? (they look new but i might have to do balancing and rotation)
2. could it be the differential needing lube (?) and its over compensating for the new prop shaft?
3. faulty prop shaft installation?

Any ideas?

It could be all 3, but I would take it back and have a tech test drive it with you. Sound like the shaft is giving off the vibration. Did it do this prior to going into the shop?

I remember having the same vibrations but minimal prior to the installation of new prop shaft.
I will have them check the differential tomorrow... if fluid is ok then have the tires balanced and aligned..
if still the same then it must be faulty prop shaft installation..

its gonna take some time off from work and my boss is not going to be happy but what the heck... i dont wanna ride a huge "vibrator"

I had my driveshaft (propshaft) replaced about 1 year ago. It was making a high pitched whistle.

Either way, upon return, it only gets 20 mpg, where it was getting 24 before. I also don't feel like the AWD is working the same. I was told what they did wouldn't affect my mpg or the AWD.

The vehicle now also makes a noise between 40-70 mph as well.

Any thoughts on my issues...sorry to sort of highjack the thread

Who told these things to you 91stealth? An actual jag dealer?

Any update elardizabel?

If you haven't already go to a local tire store and have them high speed balance your rims/tires. At least this way you know for sure it has nothing to do with that and concentrate on other things.

Goodyear charged me around $40-50 for my mountaineer with 20's. (I should also mention that it is lifetime for my car as well.)

Yup, an actual Jaguar dealer told me this...one outside Chicago, Illinios. Any recommedations on a great dealer in the area?

I am coming up on 50k and definately want these things taken care of before I am out of warranty.

I mis-typed in my prior email...my noise is between 50-70 mph.

Not sure if the balancing comment was towards me, but I just purchased new rims and tires.

To me, changing the drive shaft will change both the AWD functionality and MPG. And I still have a noise...at least the high pitched whine at low speeds is almost gone...only acts up time to time...but I always ahve the noise between 50-70 mph.

no i havent worked on mine yet, im still stuck with work and bad weather and need to prioritize my IMT seal check and replacement..

I do believe that the noise would either be the tires or the differential.. will let you know what i find out.

The driveshaft shouldn't change anything, imo. I actually had mine changed out the day after I bought it. It didn't change anything but it did stop the noise I had (only heard it in the driveway going from Revese to Drive or using any kind of opposite direction in comparison to the original course of direction.) If they changed the diff. I could totally see that affecting things.

I had a 2007/8 x-type rental that had a whine and was quite annoying but I attributed that to the rear brake problem that the x's are known to have. I didn't care since it was an enterprise rental but I let them know when I turned it in.

When you all get it fixed make sure and report back and let us know.

simple things sometimes create issues... lol... Im so mad at myself today since I found out what's causing the vibrations at speed 50-70... ITS ACTUALLY MY TIRES!! (relieved) they are OVER-INFLATED with different pressures per tire (45, 35, 39, 42) now that saves me the balancing fee... no more vibrations..

Not a problem but irritating noise...IIRC it was with the brake cable making noises or something like that. I never had the problem but many people were complaining that had newer x's.
