so i'm finally about to get the x type in a day or 2....a previous car i bought had some warning lights removed, can anyone supply a pic of when all the gauge cluster warning lights come on as a bulb test when you turn the key to position 2.
I want to be sure none of the bulbs have been removed.
I've seen a couple of cars online with a small red light on in the speedometer area, what is that light?
thanks

The red light inside the speedo is telling you that something significant is happening to the vehicle and due to this condition, to continue using the vehicle will most likely result in further/more damage. Next to it is a yellow light. This one is simply saying that you have a problem and needs to be looked at, but should not create any further harm to the vehicle.

iown, no, just as I stated. Think of it this way, red is dead. You keep driving the car with a red light on, you are likely to have a dead car. If you have a yellow light, this is just cautioning you that something isn't right and it needs to be looked at. The red and yellow lights are not differentiating between a pending code or any other code. Both lights tell you that you have a code in the computer now.

iown, if those lights are on, there is an active code in the computer. You can plug in your OBD code reader and see what the code is and if you have one that you can look at the various values, it may even help you figure out what the problem component is. But, even if the lights go out (and the CEL is out), once a code is triggered inside of the computer, it is there until someone goes into the computer and clears it. This is why when people first get their codes read, some of the messages might be misleading. So, just because the lights have cleared, as long as you haven't cleared the codes, the code will be there for you to read at a later date.
