Washer Fluid Warning Message
06 X-Type Sport. Bought the car new from dealer in August. 323 miles. Long story...
Just checking under the hood this am. The washer fluid reservior was bone dry. No signs of leakage. Looks like it may never have been filled. I have the Message Centre fitted - and I've never seen amessage that the washer fluid was low.
Could this be a malfunction with the sensor? Or, does the warning message not work if the bottle is completely empty? Or does it just give up after a while?
Thanks,
Kevin

RE: Washer Fluid Warning Message
there is no way to see the level of the washer fluid.. it is completely hidden.
are you certain you are looking at washer fluid? whay makes you think it is empty? can you post a pic.
is your dealer so far away that you cant go back? for sure you have warranty.

bojangles -
???
I can see the level easily in my car. The reservoir bottle is in the front left. Has a blue top with the little symbol for washer fluid on it. Right where the owner's manual says it should be.
I could post a pic - but its not empty any more. I filled it this morning.
The dealer is about five minutes from my house - so its no problem going back.

Sure you can see the top.. the opening with the blue cap.. but the bottom id down in front of the right front tire. deep below the ABS pump etc... I for sure cant see the level in the bottle.. when I look down the neck of the bottle it turns and I can only see the top couple of inches.
How much fluid did you add? that should give us an idea if the sensor is working.
My 02 has the classic "what were they thinking?????" set up. When the low level light comes on, I pour in a 4L bottle of fluid, and just when there is only a tiny bit left in the container, it overflows.
I am left with a swish of fluid in the 4L container. just enough such that we "frugal" types dont throw it away.

OK, I get it...
I didn't measure - but estimating from what's left in the jug - I added about 1L of washer fluid - which filled the reservoir to just below the neck.
So, there was probably about 3L of fluid lurking around in there...
My owners manual says capacity of the washer fluid reservior is 4.2L.
No wonder the light didn't come on.
Thanks!!
