Water Leaking Into Spare Tire Well

I have a 2006 X-Type Sportwagon that keeps accumulating water in the spare tire well. The interior above the well seems to be dry, but I keep finding a pool of water under the spare tire. I can drain it by pulling out of one of the plugs in the floor of the well and then using a fan to dry it. All of the metal and seams in the well are in good shape, but I can't find the source of the leak. Anyone else run into this problem?

I have given a days thought to what could be the source. I think that the mounting gasket (seal) for the petrol fill pipe is defective. To verify you will need to remove the trim panel to access the fill pipe. You can apply a water hose around the fill connection and determine if water is getting in from the fill area.
The other area that comes to mind as a possibility is the waist seals at the bottom of the windows. While typing that last sentence a thought came to mind. the waist seals are not for preventing water intrusion but for managing it. That would lead me to think the drain outlets at the base of the side panels may be plugged and the area is also filled with water.
I would recommend removing the trim covering and do and inspection for signs of water.

Hi there, I hope you have fixed the problem, if not then may I suggest you have a look at the rear light clusters. I had the same problem with water in the wheel well and in fact blew the reversing sensor computer. I discovered that there was grit between the rear light cluster seal and the bodywork which allowed water into the well. I removed the cluster and siliconed the seals onto the bodywork to prevent any further ingress.
Good luck
Colin

is the source of the water! I had my brother spray the car with the hose from every angle imaginable (we even tried spraying the underside of the car) but I couldn't find where the water was coming in. I suspect the water might only get in the car when the car is moving, but Sarkari Result Pnr Status 192.168.1.1 that's just a theory.
