weird break issue

weird break issue
I have a weird issue with my breaks. When I am going in reverse and apply the break they make a hoooon sound. I have only heard this once or twice before after I cleaned the wheels with wheel cleaner. It would then go away after I drove for a few miles. Now, it makes the noise any time I drive in reverse and I have not cleaned the wheels in months (because of the winter). I just had the rear tires replaced and they said the breaks look ok... what should I look at or do?

RE: weird break issue
If you have some time on your hands and a nice dry garage, pull the rear wheels and pull the rear calipers and clean everything with BRAKE cleaner. Lube up theback of the pads, caliper sliders, and all metal contact points with the appropriate grease. Just sounds like they are dirty to me or you might have some glazing of the rotors/pads.
Is the noise coming from the rear of the car or the front or all 4?

RE: weird break issue
I did all that, and, even replaced the rear shoes. It still made a very loud moaning noise when I hit the brakes while backing up - predominately on rainy days, after I washed the car, etc. - anytime a light rust film formed on the rear rotors. After I had the dealer replaces the rear carrier bushings called for in the tech bulletin, the noise went away.
