Weird noises
Already tried search and didnt come up with anything despite remembering someone saying something about a 2.5L noise thread.
I have a 04 xtype 5 spd 2.5L with nearing 60k mi (and fast i might add)
In the morning when i start it up, it makes a rattling like sound that doesnt sound too appealing.
After that when i am in any gear, above 2400 rpm or so while accelerating, there is a noise that sounds a lot like heatshields rattling and louder the harder your accelerating. I have checked and all the heatshields are tight.
On top of that, my brakes squel 90% of the time that i am driving and squel even worse when i am taking left turns or vering left at just about any speed. The pads are fine and i took the what i beleive to be culprit caliper assy apart and lube it and it still did not stop. The sound gets louder when i very lightly press the brake pedal, but stops when i applymore pressure. It has to be the front too b/c when i pull the parking break up with some pressure the noise still does not stop. I had it in the *********** (deserves to be called this in this instance) and they said the usual "Thats just metallic compound in the semimetallic pads" since it was under warranty. I did notice that it still has the original bosch pads on it and are in great condition for the most part.
These noises make this car sound like a old beat up jalopy and its pissing me off like no other. If anyone can help i would appreciate it. FJT??? where are you, you seem to always come to my rescue

RE: Weird noises
i will see if i can get one of my buddies to video tape it. The slowest i can go is 1st gear above 2400rpm and the squel is the brakes, just not sure why. In theory, i bet beveling the edges of the pads slightly would stop it.
The clutch used to make weird noises engaging as well, but that quite. Also it used to pop under a load especailly in reverse before the transfer case was replaced and now thats back. I am wondering if the rattling is the TC again???? If so what is warranty on replaced parts?
