weird ticking/ clicking noise
Hi ,
I have this 2004 x-type 3.0L 6 AWD.
My friend was just fooling around and tried to do a
burn out and when he did it there is some type of sound
that is coming not sure what it is would you guys have a idea?
this is the sound:

You do realise you are trying to do a burnout in an AWD car don't you which is notoriously difficult to do. You are trying to achieve one of the things that the system is designed to overcome ,namely wheel spin..The clicking you are hearing may well be coming from part of the transfer system voicing it's protest !

That's the sound of very large denomination coins being thrown into a trash bucket, one after another.
Have that friend of yours that just destroyed your car crawl under it as it is running, in order to tell you exactly where the noise is coming from, and after he finds it put your car into gear and drive back and fourth over his head.
You used to own a fine luxury car. I have never, ever read anything that described it as a "Sports Car"

From my earlier tears of repairing auto boxes it sounds like a cracked flex plate. In the vid it comes when you apply load to the engine by trying to drive against the brakes, the flexplate is a metal disc bolted between the crankshaft and torque converter, big job if it is. You need to listen at the end of the engine under the battery box.
