What do you think about my rear end?
After looking at the aftermarket taillight conversions and not being real happy with the fit and finish, I decided to customize mine with my own design. Deleted the rear fog and had them professionally sanded down then base coat - clear coated. Had them do the lower valance as well. Here's the results. What do you think?

FTL, I took it in to a shop that does more custom work than collision work so they were pretty enthused in the first place to do it and really take pride in their work. I previously had them do my El Camino and paid LOTS for that so they liked me. The bottom valance isn't as smooth as the rest but it was also done twice. The first time he didn't like how it turned out so he did it again. Something about how the uneven surface grabs or doesn't grab the metallics. The second time he was a lot happier with the match. He uses some sort of computer program for paint matching as he's always touching up and repainting custom colours. So in amswer to Jim's question, it was almost $350 to do the three pieces. Which, I figure, is probably less expensive than me screwing up a couple tailights and, I've got "lifetime" g'tee.
Platinum, yes that is an R badge. Some here will scold me for having it but it matches my shifter knob! Not everyone knows there is no such thing as an XTR.
Thanks folks. It took me a while to do it. I just knew I had to.

Like almost every vehicle I've had, I just need to do something to make it look a bit different. Don't know why, but I do. Kinda like a compulsion of some sort. As soon as I was downtown one day following another platinum X-type my brain started churning out the need.
