Default What is the drive cycle to close an open comprehensive component monitor?

Dead battery forced the computer to reset. Had a few open monitors because of this such as evap, oxygen, comprehensive component. The evap and oxygen monitors are now closed. However the comprehensive component is still open and because of this I get a p1000 code. It won’t pass smog and I am trying to sell this car.

tried the recommend drive cycle of playing with the transmission verifying illumination of the gearbox for park , reverse, neutral, d, 4,3,2, driving the car on 2 for 5 sec at 40 mph then 3 for 5 sec at 40 mph etc…. And I use an obd2 scanner and it still shows comprehensive component open.

I scoured this forum and have failed to find a solution.

any help is much appreciated I have driven 500 miles already and it’s still open.

Welcome to the forums jignac,

As a newbie, you cannot download documents from the forum so there is no point in me attaching the Diagnostics Guide here.

There is no single Comprehensive Component Monitor Engine Drive Cycle for the X-Type:

There is a single Comprehensive Component Monitor Transmission Drive Cycle for the X-Type:

Good luck. I know just how frustrating it can be to complete monitoring tests.

Thanks Graham for responding. These were the instructions that I followed and the comprehensive component monitor is still open. Does that mean it's not a transmission issue? ( sorry i know little about cars so apologies if i sound silly). Bought an obd2 scanner and i've been doing this procedure that you posted on saturday and sunday for 2 hours. Didn't work.

I've seen other posts where they experienced the same problem, and unfortunately it's unknown if they were able resolve the issue.

Any help would be appreciated

Unless your scantool is fully Jaguar compatible, it may not even be able to read relevant DTC's (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).

P1000 is a status code indicating all engine management OBD diagnostic monitor drive cycles HAVE NOT BEEN COMPLETED. This will change to P1111 after DTCs have been cleared and all engine management OBD diagnostic monitor drive cycles HAVE BEEN COMPLETED. Clearing the codes always puts things back to the start so all monitoring tests begin again. What (if any) codes is your scanner showing?

No CEL is a good sign as any codes that set it repeat within 2 cycles and all your driving will certainly have exceeded that.

Here is the full Drive Cycle sequence:

If you have completed all of these and only the transmission component is incomplete then it's either a matter of time (although you seem to have driven more than sufficiently to complete it) or it's going to take dealer level diagnostics (Jaguar SDD - Symptom Driven Diagnostics) to determine the cause.

Sorry. What does CEL mean? Also I should have added that all monitors are closed except for the CCM (not sure if I was clear).

Thanks again
