Default What size speaker fits in door?

Going to replace the door speakers and would like to know the size to buy. The door panel removal section and the audio section didn't have the answer.
Thanks.

Did the speakers just go right in the stock location or did you have to buy the MDF rings. Also do you have 20" wheels? How is the ride?

smittybizzle,i use the same stock speakers as mounts, with a knife cut the suspension and broke the plastic parts with a cut pliers now u have ur cheap mounts, otherwise you would have to order them on ebay, or make your own.

drive is a bit rough, but nothing to do, to bring your own car a little different from others gives a touch more sporty.

The problem with the stock speakers is that they are directly molded to custom rings. Looks like kalacho2006 managed to get the speakers out of the rings and used them for his new speakers. I didn't even try that with mine, looked like it would be impossible to split the speakers from the rings without destroying them in the process. So I got generic MDF rings but they do not fit without modifications. I'm kind of a newbie but managed to get it done so you should be fine :-) I basically just used a drill to drill new holes in the metal door frame so the new MDF rings would fit, and then screwed the speakers into the rings. Did all 4 doors and it's really worth it. Replaced the crappy stock JVCs with MTXs. The bass isn't the same as having a subwoofer, but at mid and high volume there is much less distortion than the stock speakers.

My biggest issue doing this was the door clips, even with the special tool I manage to break a ton of them and they are very costly to replace.

Ok thanks for the info. What size ring did you use for the speakers? Because I see a few on ebay. I just wanna be able to do all my work in one day and don't wanna order the wrong rings, Pioneer Avic X920BT and the pioneer 6 1/2 speakers.
